Background：

β2   microglobulin also known as B2M is a component of MHC class I molecules,   which are present on all nucleated cells.B2M levels will increase when   physical or suspected kidney damage occurs. Elevated B2M in the blood is   correlated with a larger amount of tumor (tumor mass) and reduced kidney   function in multiple myeloma patients.   Blood B2M is also used as a tumor marker for some people with blood   cell cancers.
